Mixed signals

The view is looking south on North Salina Street, on 31 March 2003.

North Salina and Isabella streets

A safety yellow signal and a green signal sharing the same wire is not a common sight in New York state. However, it is becoming more common, due probably in part to tight budgets. The green signal at left was probably installed in 1979; the one at right appears to have been installed quite recently.

North Salina Street recently received new sidewalks and new street lighting. Perhaps this street might eventually receive new signals as well; one block away, at Spencer Street, new signals (the yellow ones in the background) were installed in early 1999.

UPDATE (26 AUGUST 2004): Both signals at this intersection are now yellow, and they—like other Syracuse signals—sport LEDs. Page updated 3 November 2004.
