Butternut and Park streets
New signals were operating at the corner of Butternut and Park streets on 1 October. What is somewhat typical of this installation, as well as of a few others in the city, is that the signal will be suspended from one new pole—and a vintage pole. Looking east, one can see that the old pole (left photo), probably installed in the 1940s, has a new control box.
Also, the old green-colored pedestrian signals that were mounted at this intersection have now been replaced by new, state-of-the-art 12" yellow units. The 12" signals themselves replace a yellow, 8" 4-way Crouse-Hinds bracket that was installed around the early 1980s. |
