1973: Oddity near Carousel

No leaves yet, even after one month of spring. Both views are looking west, at the retaining wall on Erie Boulevard West.

Erie Boulevard West at Hiawatha Boulevard West

Here is another speciman from the Syracuse Class of 1973. Hiawatha Boulevard West ends at Erie Boulevard West, which itself runs on the old canal bed.

This intersection has one special oddity, which you can better see in the photo at left: The control boxes are mounted immediately on top of the signals instead of mounted directly under the mast. Normally, this does not happen.

The intersection also has its original configuration, because the right-turn arrow is a non-LED arrow; hence, there is no yellow arrow sequence. Some 1973-vintage signals have undergone alterations of one sort or another. Photos taken 21 April 2003.
