Solvay’s Safety Signal

Milton and Boyd avenues
After so many years, Solvay finally purchased a new signal and installed it in 2000. And it is a surprise—a safety yellow signal was chosen. Usually, dark green is chosen for the signal casing, but Solvay chose otherwise. It cuts a handsome profile, and performs its job well. The signal control box, interestingly, is an old Crouse-Hinds unit that was originally yellow. Photos taken 1 June 2002.

Let’s get clinical …

Here is a closeuview of the Solvay signal. It is not a Traffic Control Technologies unit, but its appearance is similar.
